On June 13, Wu Tianyu officially took office as Chairman of SEMI Global Board of Directors. This is once again the position has been held by a Taiwanese enterprise in the past 20 years. The last time was in 2006, when Huang Minqi, founder of Hanmin Group, was the first Taiwanese entrepreneur to serve as chairman of SEMI International Board of Directors.
Wu Tian Jade graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of National Taiwan University. After two years of war, he went to the University of Fengzhou, USA to further his studies and obtained a master's degree in mechanical mechanics and doctoral degree. In 1989, he joined IBM R&D Center and obtained 12 patents. He mentioned that there was a failure of the production line machine, and he worked hard to read the manual and repair it for a week but failed; a technician came and adjusted it in two minutes. Yu Kaier, deputy director of the Sun and Moonlight Marketing and Public Affairs Department, recalled that before Wu Tianyu joined, the company's operation was actually quite difficult. It was not until 1990 and 1999 that the packaging factory of Fulei Electric (located in China) and Motorola (located in South Korea) were separately merged and purchased.

This position is not only about hosting meetings, but requires real leadership and promotion of global industry cooperation.
Wu Tianyu said that since SEMI is a global platform, it needs to understand the policies of various countries and return to Taiwan's perspective, "What are we missing? What do we have? What do we use to exchange with others? What do we want to exchange?" At this time, a global business platform is needed to promote it. This is not something a single government can do, especially SEMI members with a whopping 3,800 companies, are real "traders", and their impact is self-evident.
