According to the British media "The Times", Tottenham defender Udoji was threatened with a gun by a well-known football agent on a street in north London. The incident occurred in September.
The agent is in his 30s and has represented many top players. He was arrested in the Barnet area following the incident. Another man believed to be a relative of Udoji was also threatened, according to the Metropolitan Police.
For legal reasons, the identity of the broker has not been made public. He was questioned by police on suspicion of blackmail, driving without a license and firearms offences.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement stating that the police received a report at 23:14 pm on September 6, local time: "It was reported that a man in his 20s was threatened with a gun on the Cork Forster Parade in Barnet District."
The statement added: "During the course of the investigation, it was also reported that another man in his 20s had also been blackmailed and threatened by the same person. No injuries were reported in either incident. On September 8, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail and driving without a license. He has been released on bail while investigations continue. Continued."
A Tottenham club spokesman said: "We have provided support to Udoji and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. As this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further."
According to the "Sun", Udoji is "clearly shaken."
The source said: "He reported the matter immediately. It was for his safety and the right thing to do. He has the support of friends and the club, and they all hope this will not affect his performance."
