Rooney said on the BBC program that the England team should give Kane a chance to rest.
He said: "In the next two games of the England team, if it were me, I would not call up Kane and give him a chance to rest."
"By the end of the season, Kane will not have many opportunities to rest. Let him rest and see Welbeck, Watkins or Ivan Toney. No matter who it is, give these players a chance and let them prove themselves."
