Wenzhou.com News Nowadays, many citizens have raised pets at home, but what should the body be treated if the pet is born, old, sick and dead? Should I find a place to bury it deeply, or should I leave it to the pet clinic for treatment? How to put a standard end to raising pets? Today, the reporter learned from the Wenzhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau that our city will build a pet cold storage to further standardize the harmless treatment of pet corpses.

Current status: Most of the pets die, burying them

"I have a shepherd dog for ten years. I died of illness some time ago. My mother cried so hard." Mr. Wang, a citizen, said with a sigh: "I took the dog back from the clinic. My mother couldn't bear to throw it away, so she dug a hole in a nearby park while the night was dark and buried it." The veterinarian from a pet clinic on Jiangbin Road in the city said that among the pets they treated in the clinic, there are about 40 or 50 pets who died normally (oldering death) and abnormal (urgent illness) every year. In addition to one-third being taken away by the owner, the other part of them "can only be buried." Ye Chenchen, a staff member of the Lucheng District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau, told reporters that after the pet died, most people chose to bury the land near their residence. This approach is actually wrong. Therefore, these pets themselves carry harmful bacteria and viruses. If dogs and cats get rabies, it will be even more inappropriate to bury them at will. If it is not buried deep, people will be infected. In addition, pet corpses are medical waste and have varying degrees of pollution to land and water sources.

Our city already has a harmless treatment vehicle for dead animals, but not much treatment

Compared with the pet cremation and funeral systems that have been operated in other first-tier cities, our city is relatively weak in this link.

On April 28, 2015, a harmless animal treatment vehicle was imported from the UK led by the Wenzhou People's Government. It is now operated by Wenzhou Zhanhong Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., marking that Wenzhou has taken the first step in harmless animal treatment. This car can handle dead pigs, pets and other dead animals, and the method of harmless treatment of animals is to burn them directly.

Ye Chenchen said: "Incineration is the most thorough way to deal with animal corpses. But now most of the cars deal with dead pigs and other animals, and there are not many pets." Regarding such a "simple and crude" treatment method, Ms. Lin, a citizen, said she "shivered" when she heard it. She said: "My cat has been with me for so many years. Although it died of illness, how could I bear to burn it?" At the end of last year, she buried her cat who died of old age in her community and planted a tree on it. "In this way, I can 'see' it often."

Our city will build pet cold storage to further standardize harmless treatment

It is understood that most of the pets in our city have not registered, and the specific number cannot be counted. Zhou Qinglu, president of Wenzhou Pet Association, told reporters that through the annual vaccine volume of 43 pet clinics in the city, it can be roughly counted that there are about tens of thousands of pets in our city now. "According to the annual pet mortality rate of 10%, at least a few thousand pets will die in our city every year. The number is very large. It is urgent to deal with harmless pet deaths."

The relevant person in charge of Wenzhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau said that the municipal government attaches great importance to the problem of dealing with dead animals and pets. It plans to establish a standardized pet freezer in the city from the second half of this year to next year to centralize the freezing of dead pets and destruction.

In addition, the harmless treatment plant for dead animals in Wencheng County has been completed and put into use; civil engineering projects in Ruian City, Yueqing City, Cangnan County and Pingyang County are under construction and equipment bidding has been completed. It is worth mentioning that if citizens have pets that need to be dealt with at home, especially those who die from rabies, they can also report to the animal husbandry and veterinary department for unified treatment.
