Can dogs eat sweet food?

Although sweets are delicious and delicious and dogs like to eat them, eating sweets has many disadvantages but no benefits for dogs.

A few days ago, I saw an example in a forum: a dog owner took his spotted dog to visit another friend's house, and his friend specially enjoyed more than 20 candies for the dog. The dog owner did not pay special attention at that time, but from the next day, the spotted appetite began to lose, and mild diarrhea and vomiting occurred. I thought it was a cold, but for some anti-inflammatory drugs, the situation has not improved and it is getting worse. Then he started to have bloody stools and was depressed. When he went to the hospital for treatment, his conjunctiva and gums became pale, which was obviously severely bleeding. In the end, the dog's skin lost its elasticity, his spirit was depressed, and his dehydration was severe, so he almost couldn't be rescued.

This situation occurs because of the friend's "kind" candy. Remember: Dogs can’t eat too much candy! Because the dog's digestive system cannot secrete and decompose disaccharides (such as sucrose, etc.), it cannot decompose and absorb sucrose; once the dog eats a large amount of sucrose or fructose, a hypertonic environment will be formed in the digestive tract, causing large amounts of body fluids to enter the intestinal cavity, resulting in diarrhea.

At the same time, in addition to candy, other sweets are also given to dogs. There are the following disadvantages to giving dogs to regularly eat sweets:

1. First of all, the sugar and fat ratio in sweets is relatively high. Even if you don’t eat too much, it can make the energy intake of dogs imbalance with other nutrients;

2. The energy intake of dogs is relatively high, but it cannot be consumed and converted into fat and deposited in the dog's body, causing dog obesity;

3. Soft sweets are not conducive to exercising dogs' teeth, and sweet debris is a good medium for bacteria, which is more likely to promote bacterial growth, leading to dental diseases such as plaque and tooth decay in dogs;

4. Dogs who eat sweets frequently are prone to gastrointestinal and oral diseases.

In addition, eating too cold or too greasy sweets such as ice cream can also cause vomiting or diarrhea to the dog, causing enteritis. For the above reasons, don’t give your dogs sweets often
