On May 14, 2022, Liuzhou traffic police received a video report from the masses, saying that there was a pickup truck traveling from south to north on the section of Guizhong Avenue near Jiuzhou International Building, with a dog running on a rope hanging on the right side of the rear compartment.

It can be seen from the video that the dog was hung on the outside of the rear compartment and next to the right rear wheel of the vehicle. Because the rope was not long enough, the dog's front feet could not touch the ground, and the dog's rear feet could not keep up with the speed of the vehicle. It looked like it was being dragged by the vehicle.

After the video spread on the Internet, many netizens speculated whether the owner was abusing the dog, or speculated that the owner had stolen the dog. Moreover, some netizens believed that letting the dog run like this on the road would also affect the safe driving of other vehicles.

After receiving the report, the Mobile Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Liuzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau immediately launched an investigation into the vehicle involved. Since the video clearly recorded the license plate of the vehicle involved, Gui B9****, the police quickly found the owner of the vehicle, Mr. Gan, and called him to the mobile brigade today to learn about the situation.

"It's my own dog, and I still feel bad..."

Mr. Gan said that around 15:40 that afternoon, he and his friends planned to take their pet dog to a place near Shatang Town for a walk. Before setting off, they put the dog in the back of the car and drove right from Qinghe Road (Sunshine 100) onto Guizhong Avenue. It may be that the dog couldn't see its owner in the cab in front, so it jumped off the car on the way. Since the rope was still tied to the car and the dog was hanging close to the wheel, Mr. Gan did not notice this situation in time, causing the dog to be dragged for a distance.

Mr. Gan told the police that when they were at the intersection of Wenxing Road on Guizhong Avenue, the driver of a white vehicle kindly reminded them. He immediately got out of the car to check the dog's condition and found that the dog's hind legs were injured. He sadly picked the dog up into the car and tied the leash again before driving away.
